Annual Community Donation

Our Centerville Church family chooses several local charities to which we donate annually. The generous offerings from our members allow us to give to community groups who are working to provide resources to those in need.

Community Soup Kitchen

Centerville Church serves in rotation in this local program, making and serving dinner at the Goldendale United Methodist Church. Email us if you’d like to be a part of our next opportunity to care for our community.

International Missions

We are excited to partner with Stephen Ajoo in Chennai, India. Stephen leads a Bible College for ministry leaders and pastors of outlying villages, providing Bible teaching and support. Stephen has a passion for trained ministry leaders, desiring to give them the tools they need to lead successfully. Currently, the school has 20-30 students learning more about God’s Word and love to share with their congregations.

Children’s Ministry

Children’s lessons and games are offered during the sermon portion of our regular Sunday service. Following the Bible lesson, children play games, do crafts, or enjoy time outdoors if the weather permits. During the holiday season, check the calendar for additional activities.

Women’s Ministry

We are on summer break from our regularly scheduled Bible studies. We offer several events throughout the summer for ladies to get together and have fun. We’ve enjoyed Bocce Ball, museums, picnics, and always enjoy the time together! Check out our events page for updated information.

We will resume our Tuesday morning Bible Study group in September and look forward to seeing you there!

God

There is one God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is Creator of all things both visible and invisible. He is infinitely perfect and eternally existing.

Genesis 1:1-2; Matthew 28:18-20; John 1:1-2, 8:58; 1 Corinthians 6:11, 8:6; Acts 2:32-33

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is God's one and only Son. He came to reveal God and to redeem man. He died on the cross for the atonement of our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return again.

Romans 4:24, 8:34; Galatians 4:4-5; Philippians 2:5-11

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit instructs, comforts, and empowers believers for godly living and service.

John 14:16-17; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13, Ephesians 1:13-14

The Bible

The Bible is the inerrant, divinely inspired and preserved Word of God. Both Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, and our inspiration and complete authority. We accept the Bible as the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21

The Church

The church is made up of all people who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been made a new creation. We are united together in the Body of Christ as brothers and sisters, giving our allegiance and service to Jesus Christ, our Head.

Matthew 16:13-18; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 2:19-20

Salvation

Salvation, the forgiveness of sin, is only by God's grace, through the blood of Jesus Christ. Salvation is received by putting faith in Christ, repenting (turning away) of sin, and confessing your willingness to have Jesus as Lord of your life. We believe in water baptism as the obedient response to Jesus’ saving work in our lives, and to the Great Commission He gave in Matthew 28:19.

Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 John 1:7; Romans 5:1-2; Acts 3:19, 17:30; 2 Peter 3:9; Philippians 2:11; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-7; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21

History

History of Centerville Church

In 1877, a group of Christians began meeting as the Church of Christ at Centerville. They moved into our current building in 1884, purchasing the property for $12.50. Our beautiful belfry and bell, which rings our every Sunday morning, were added a few years later. The Christian Ladies Aid Society was organized in 1908 to aid the church financially and increase the church’s benevolence outreach. The parsonage, located next to the church, was added in 1915.

Operating as an independent, non-denominational church, Centerville Church has held services each Sunday since the very beginning. Traditional and contemporary touches now blend together to create a welcoming space that we hope you will enjoy with us.
